BAIK Film Fest is a national and international children and family film festival for audiences aged 7–15, offering a distinctive experience through the integration of film screenings, creative workshops, and nature-based activities.

Held in Batu City, East Java Indonesia - renowned as a family-friendly tourist destination and officially recognised as a child-friendly city - the festival provides an ideal setting where children can learn, play, express themselves, and imagine freely within a safe, joyful, and natural environment.

For filmmakers, BAIK Film Fest serves as a platform for networking and professional development, with a strong focus on strengthening human resources and capacities in children’s film production.

Rules & Terms

1. Festival Values and Eligible Content

In alignment with the Nature • Nurture • Future framework, submitted films should:


A. Nature – Environmental Awareness & Sustainability

BAIK Film Fest encourages films that:

  • Promote respect and care for nature and biodiversity
  • Foster ecological awareness and sustainability
  • Encourage harmonious relationships between children and their environment
  • Reflect agricultural, rural, or natural landscapes as spaces of learning and play

B. Nurture – Human Values & Child Development

Films are expected to strengthen universal human values, including:

  • Family, friendship, and childhood experiences
  • Empathy, mutual understanding, respect, and diversity
  • Creativity, imagination, and talent development
  • Learning, education, and emotional growth
  • Appreciation of life, dignity, and care for others

Films should highlight positive human qualities, such as:

  • Kindness, friendliness, and compassion
  • Optimism, joy, and emotional resilience
  • Responsibility, diligence, and cooperation
  • Generosity, humor, and intelligence

C. Future – Innovation, Creativity & Social Responsibility

  • Present innovative and ethical solutions to social, cultural, or educational challenges
  • Inspire children to imagine positive futures
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and civic awareness
  • Explore technology, society, and culture in child-appropriate and constructive ways

2. Ineligible Content

To maintain a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly festival environment, BAIK Film Fest 2026 does not consider films that center on or promote destructive content, including:


A. Human Personality & Psychological Harm

  • Graphic or prolonged depictions of suffering
  • Psychological disorders presented without educational framing
  • Suicidal thoughts or self-harm narratives
  • Alcohol or drug addiction as narrative focus

B. Family, Social, and Interpersonal Conflict

  • Violence, abuse, or criminal behaviour
  • Scandals, betrayal, destructive relational dynamics
  • War or social trauma without age-appropriate mediation
  • Neglectful or cruel behavior normalization

C. Environment & Planetary Harm

  • Disrespectful or exploitative treatment of nature
  • Harm to wildlife or ecosystems without educational context
  • Narratives legitimizing environmental destruction

3. Inclusivity and Child Safety

All films must uphold the following principles:

  • Child safety and emotional well-being
  • Inclusivity for children of diverse abilities, backgrounds, and sensitivities
  • Respectful representation aligned with BAIK Film Fest’s inclusive screening principles

4. Technical Rules

  • Film submissions are open from 07 January to 07 March 2026 (Extended to 10 March 2026) and must be submitted via FilmFreeway or the festival’s Official Website Platform.
  • Submitted films must have been produced on or after January 2024, except for films officially invited by the festival.
  • The festival accepts both live-action and animated films.
  • The maximum running time for live-action films is 20 minutes.
  • The maximum running time for animated films is 15 minutes.
  • All submitted films must have a minimum resolution of 1080p (Full HD).
  • English subtitles are mandatory for all submissions.
  • A press kit is mandatory for all submissions.
  • Entrants confirm and warrant that they hold the required legal authority to submit the film and to use all music, images, and content contained within the film.
  • BAIK Film Festival retains the right to accept or decline any film, for any reason, without obligation to provide explanation.
  • The festival is granted permission to utilize EPK materials, film excerpts, and to exhibit accepted films for promotional and festival purposes during the current edition and up to the next edition, with proper credit provided.
  • By submitting a film, entrants agree to the final decision of the festival committee.
  • The festival reserves the right to change event dates and deadlines.
